The Construction of Identity’ of ‘Your Self’

This workshop of 3 hours by Lisette Ros will be about the (de)construction of identity, and the fluidity thereof. Practicing with different ways of thinking, ways of expressing, researching (bodily) conditioning and behavior, activating your feelings, vulnerabilities and the empowerment thereof, and the liberation of control.

Lisette Ros is a conceptual and performance artist since 2013.

''I use my body as a tool in order to do research. As a quest towards society, unmasking how mechanisms work, and as a quest towards my own, fluid identity. I am conditioned by an understructure rooted in our primary, daily behavior and my identity: who is I, in the midst of it all? I identify as a humanimal, a hybrid form of existence, morphing between the fragmented categories of species. And I currently identify myself as a Dutch woman with Indonesian roots that is queer and fluid.

Those are important pillars in the deconstruction of my identity. The pillars, the so-called different ‘I’s’, bring me closer to defining her feelings and emotions and why I express myself the way I do.

I will open-up myself, and use my own vulnerabilities, body and experience, and a selection of inspiration as common thread in my program. I expect the freedom of using your own mind, the body, personal creativity, discipline and individual techniques from the practitioners''

During my workshops I find it important that it is an open and safe space, where we can share, question, bond and adapt. It is an interactive momentum, where I want the participants and myself to feel comfortable, to be able to open-up and connect. My art is not about being a dancer or theater; it is not about playing a character or (solely) for the entertainment of an audience.''
